The Joy of Pregnancy

For most men the phrase ‘The joy of pregnancy’, would elicit nothing more than a short chuckle and a shake of the head. Perhaps I was one of the lucky ones, but I found the whole process to be the most amazing thing. The start of the pregnancy of course varies, depending on the circumstances of conception, but my wife and I had been trying to conceive for a good few months, so when we saw that little blue line, we were over the moon.

The first few months I have to say were a breeze for us. My partner suffered very little morning sickness, and other than feeling a little more tired than usual, she felt fine. It took my wife a little while to adapt to her new and developing body shape though. She didn’t really start to show until about the beginning of the fourth month, and at the first really noticeable signs she was horrified. She soon learnt to love it though, and I have to say that I fell in love with her new shape. All I could think about was the fact that the little bump in her tumnmy was our baby, and my beautiful wife was carrying it for us! By the time she was about 21 or 22 weeks pregnant she had come to terms with the ever growing parcel, and in this period of the pregnancy she seemed to have gotten a second wind from somewhere! At last she had a bit more energy, and she seemed to use most of this for nesting! She changed the whole house around, whilst I sat back, helped where I could, and quietly looked forward to having another member in the family!
