Have you ever heard about the situation with breastfeeding in Iran? Actually, this country though nowadays moving forward to become a secular country is still on the low level of respect for human rights. Well, women practically have no rights at all when they are alone in the street. Besides wearing a punjab, sari and yashmak Islamic women have to be dressed in black and God forbids if their labour is noticed by men. That’s why pregnant women do not have the right to come out to the street if they do not have some kind of emergency. Outrageous country, huh? Well, this is their way of life and they agree to that. Besides the influence of the religion is great and no one can tell you what is more powerful there: the government or the religious preceptors in the mosque. But when the question about breastfeeding arises – there are no other options for women living in Iran than to breastfeed their children at home and better during the times when men are absent. But there are women who are very cosmopolitan and educated enough to promote the equality of rights of men and women. And it is they who brought in the idea of making breastfeeding rather normal and common thing introducing nurse wear. But unfortunately, this idea of making breastfeeding a common activity in Iran will hardly get any approval in the men-ruled society. But the idea is great: there are special t-shirts and just shirts or just nursing hoodies that make it possible to breastfeed a child making the process practically invisible for a husband. Definitely, no one even tries to mention about breastfeeding in public in Iran.
