Wouldn’t it be just great to determine the sex of your child in the earlier stages of pregnancy? Am I expecting a baby boy or a baby girl? Doesn’t knowing the sex make it easier to choose names for the child rather than be faced with hurried choices once the baby is born? What about clothing, gift lists, bedroom colour schemes and toys? For those of us who like to plan and be well organized undertaking a gender prediction test is definitely an optimal solution.
You will find companies offering a baby gender test using a sample of maternal blood or of maternal urine. The most obvious difference is that the former is invasive to some extent whilst the latter is not. Both tests are very accurate in determining the sex of the child. When compared to other highly invasive methods of fetal DNA extraction such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling, these gender tests are far less expensive and more importantly, they are risk free.
How do I do a baby gender test?
Both DNA tests are done by means of a home kit. To do the gender test with blood, you will be provided with a lancet with which to prick the tip of your finger. Following this you will let a few drops of blood collect on a special type of filter paper. You will then need to send these back to the laboratory for analysis.
If instead, you opt for a baby sex test with urine, you will be sent a urine specimen collection cup and a special urine preservative which you will add to the urine to stop the DNA breaking down. Again, you will need to send the urine off for laboratory analysis.
How can a Urine or Blood sample confirm the sex of my baby?
As a mother you must know that you already carry some DNA of the baby you are carrying in your blood. Fetal DNA finds its way into the mother’s blood stream through the placental wall. Significantly, the DNA found in the maternal blood is not enclosed in a cell but is normally free. When your blood gets filtered through your kidneys, some of the fetal DNA finds its way through the kidneys and out with the maternal urine. Therefore, either a gender test with urine or with blood can determine the sex of the unborn child because fetal DNA is present in either.
Now for the basics of sex determination: males have 23 pairs of XY chromosome pairs (the X chromosome inherited from his mum and the Y from his dad). Females have 23 pairs of XX chromosome pairs (One X chromosome inherited from the mum and one X chromosome from the dad). Therefore the difference is in the Y chromosome. The result of the gender test is therefore based on the findings once they isolate the fetal DNA in the sample provided.
Therefore a maternal urine or blood sample that contains fetal Y chromosomes indicates that the unborn baby is a boy. If scientists do not confirm the presence of any Y chromosome, they can accurately conclude the baby you are carrying will be a girl.
In conclusion, although ultrasounds can also determine the sex of the child, the benefit of a baby gender prediction test is that it can determine whether you will have a baby boy or baby girl much earlier in the pregnancy. For those of you that need to know asap – this is the best solution!
How to stay healthy is one thing you as parents need to teach your child. As often said, everything starts at home. Everything is either good or bad there because you teach your child things. And, it could be a shame if people will see the manifestation of the unwanted from your child, especially if it relates to their health. You see as a parent, it is our responsibility to keep them in tracking what is the right thing to do and perhaps, the right food to eat. So, back home, I usually do not let my children even when they were children, for most of them are adults now, eating whatever they like. Most of the time my authority, and will always be responsible for whatever they want to eat. “No candy and cakes after midnight No chocolate and ice cream is not there when you fail in any subject ..” Well, I often wear those things on them. And, I do not just stop there, I usually pose the rules in their walls, especially when they have done something bad. Also, I make it a point to their mothers too, “to cook something delicious for tonight.” At that time, my wife already knows what she will cook for dinner that they will surely hate. With this, I must admit as a father, I was a little tight with it. And, I do this for the purpose and for a good cause. Of course, I do not want them to be picky. I want them to learn to accept and be grateful with the things that are being presented to them.
